Healthy Men Experimenting With Erectile Dysfuntion Drugs

Vardenafil, also known as Levitra, is a prescription drug for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction disorder. It belongs to a class of drugs called PDE5 inhibitors. Like other medications such as Viagra and Cialis, Levitra increases blood flow to the penis helping to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual intercourse. The active ingredient in Levitra works as a chain reaction into the penis during arousal, when the man's penis fills with blood it causes an erection. Levitra helps the blood vessels that supply the penis with blood to widen, and the vessels that take blood FROM the penis constrict, which is how an accumulation of blood gets into the penis in the first place. When a man becomes sexually aroused, nitric oxide is released in the penis. Nitric oxide with other enzymes is what regulates the contraction and dilation of the vessels that carry blood to and from the penis. Phosphodiesterase, another enzyme that breaks down and allows blood vessels to return to their normal size, ending the erection. What Vardenafil does is it inhibits the degradation of these enzymes, which in turn helps prolong an erection.

A lot of men are taking these pills for erectile dysfunction. At one time Viagra was giving away free samples on their website. Men without erectile dysfunction decided to experiment with them, as well as women. It was later found that these pills helped arouse women as well, all due to the blood flow and extra sensitivity it produced. Men that could get an erection found that it lasted longer and got herder than normal. That is because the drug opened up normal vessels even wider than needed. What ends up happening is these men could not get rid of their erections for hours and hours. Some men even had to go to the emergency room because of the pain the prolonged erection caused. Bingo! One of the side effects of the nitrate drugs are indeed prolonged erections, called priapism, and can eventually damage a perfectly healthy penis. Another side effect these men experienced, besides a harder than normal penis, was the inability to orgasm. They would go for hours without any effect. This causes a lot of discomfort and also inhibits the erection from subsiding. The point is, men with perfectly healthy penises should not experiment with nitrate drugs. These are very powerful drugs and are only intended for men that cannot get an erection, or lose it very quickly.
